RTTY

My interest in the RTTY mode started after I installed the WinWarbler software application.

RTTY as seen on the WinWarbler display

Using the basic SSB station, a microHAM DigiKeyer II is used with its built in soundcard to connect the shack PC to the Icom IC-7400. With the IC-7400 set to around 20W in D-LSB [digital modes SSB], I get a clean no-ALC transmit signal. For casual RTTY operating I make full use of the DXLab software suite. This combination includes; Commander for rig control, SpotCollector for interaction with telnet/packet clusters, PathFinder for QSL route lookups, Winwarbler for the RTTY and DXKeeper for the log book. This also gives me real-time logging for SSB contacts.

For contest RTTY operation I make use of the N1MM software package. The output log can be easily imported in to my DXKeeper logbook. As well as running the MMTTY engine to decode the RTTY, N1MM provides for scoring, partial callsign lookup, telnet/packet access and available QSO's and multipliers.
