| ANARTS - AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL AMATEUR RADIO TELEPRINTER SOCIETY | |
| WW RTTY 2005 | 77 QSO's on mainly 20m and 40m. Some good activity worked on 15, but 10m was quiet with only 9A2HW, S50DX, EC7AGG and DM5TI being worked. Highlights included GM4FDM, CN8KD and ZC4LI [20m], T95MMX [15m] and M3CVN [40m]. |
| WW RTTY 2006 | KP4JRS - first Puerto Rico QSO: entity, 20m, RTTY |

|
|
| 15m started to open midday Sunday. 20m very active. | |
| WW RTTY 2007 | Used N1MM Logger V6.11.0 to work 87 stations, mainly on 20/40m. Worked SO4m on 80/40/20/15m, also thirteen W and two VE stations. Most exotic was PY2NY on 40m at 23:22. Most unexpected, given the poor band conditions, was LT0H on 15m at 18:44. Managed to finally work Phil GU0SUP on 40m. |
| ARI - Associazione Radioamatori Italiani | |
| 50MHz Veneto 2006 | An Italian regional contest on 6m that coincided with a Sporadic-E opening. Worked 9 stations. |
| 50MHz Verona 2006 | During a Sp-E opening, Italian station started giving serial numbers with their reports. Ended up working 6 contest stations. Sent in a log which was accepted! Estimated the QRB total was 9266km. |
| International DX 2005 | A Multi-mode contest. Entered RTTY rather than SSB. The 20m DX was worked as the band was closing. No 15m activity heard at all. |
| International DX 2006 | A
Multi-mode contest. Again entered RTTY rather than SSB. Band conditions
were way down on usual.
Heard but unable to work HK, LU and PY on 40m and 20m. Even regulars RTTY
contest contacts were
down on expected signal strength. 15m had activity but it was very weak.

| 10m 2004 |
First time I've taken part in a single band
contest. Worked only 9 stations, with no contacts
outside of Europe.

| International DX SSB 2004 |
75 QSO's worked across 20m and 15m, with the
majority being on 15m. Contest is for working
W and VE stations only.

| International DX SSB 2006 |
First time I started working split on
40 using the IC-7400. Got several 'excellent audio' reports from
US stations. Highlights included K7RL for a new 40m state {Washington] and
VE5UA for a new
20m province [Alberta].

| International DX SSB 2007 |
This year I had the 20m long inverted L
antenna up and tuned by an MFJ16010
end-fed wire tuner. 40m very noisy and few stations were worked. 10m/15m
still dead during the day. worked VY2ZM on 80m for a new band DXCC. 160m 80m 40m 20m 15m 10m Total Valid QSO's: 0 18 5 19 2 0 44 Total States: 0 11 3 11 2 0 27 Total Points: 0 54 15 57 6 0 132 |
| International DX CW 2008 | With 15/10m dead, I ended up just working 23 W/VE stations, nearly all on 40m, using QRP and CW. Worked 3 stations from Texas, as well as one all time new state. |
| RTTY Roundup 2006 |
|
| Not only did 15m fail to open up, 20m was also down on usual, especially to the USA and Asia; heard no JA's or west coast W's. 40m was a bear pit, and I had trouble sorting out some of the closely packed stations. On a dead 20m overnight, I heard a single station; a Columbian [100% copy with me] working into JA1 [and hearing about 30% of this side of the contact]. Saw GU0SUP being worked but heard nothing of him. Highlight was P49X on Aruba coming back to me on 40m at my first calling. Worked some 15m stations after sunrise. Must get an 80m antenna working properly! Still having to manually write up a call sign check log, as WinWarbler is not 'contest' designed software. | |
| RTTY Roundup 2007 | Used N1MM to log this contest. It's a good contest application for RTTY, but proved difficult to use with the power output problems I am having (the output level takes 1-2 seconds to stabilise). This means several seconds of diddles and line feeds before I send my call sign or report. In the mean time another station pops in and grabs the QSO! Worked G0MTN on 80m. The most unusual QSO was UT3FW/MM on 40m. |
| RTTY Roundup 2008 | Used N1MM Logger V7.5.10 Very noisy bands during the competition. Heard no one running PSK, only RTTY. Worked only 36 stations including 1 on 80m, 1 on 15m and 2 on 20m. The rest were on 40m. Worked WB9Z in Illinois and KR4F in Alabama |
| BARC - Boring Amateur Radio Club | |
| Stew Perry Top-band challenge 2007 | Managed to get the 30m wire to tune up on 160m. Running 5W worked 22 stations, nearly all for new band/mode DXCC! Final tally was 4x DL, 2x EI, 3x F, 5x G, 2x GM, 1x GW, 1x HA, 1x I, 1x OL and 2x S5. Worked the GM3POI 'superstation'. |
| BARTG - British Amateur Radio Teledata Group | |
| SPRINT 2006 | JY4NE - first Jordan QSO: entity, 20m, RTTY 6W8CK - first Senegal QSO: entity, 15m, RTTY |
| Picked up two all time new DXCC entities during the contest. Some 15m activity, but not much! 10m absolutely dead. Unable to get shortened dipole to tune on 80m. Masses of OH stations active. 40m was not as busy as I had expected. | |
| SPRING 2006 | Managed to forget to switch the computer over to the RTTY station, so the first 20 QSO's didn't get their exact frequency recorded in the log. Worked 86 stations, with two on 80m. The rest were split between 20m [CN8LI & CN8KD] and 40m [TA1DX & 7X0RY]. |
| SPRINT 2007 | Worked only 33 stations in very poor conditions, using N1MM Logger V7.1.1 Mostly active on 20m. Worked most of the regulars. very pleased to work TF3AO on 14.092MHz. |
| SPRING 2007 | Didn't manage to beat last years QSO total. Band conditions poor and spent time doing the Russian DX contest. No new DXCC worked. Best DX was JA6ZPR on 20m. Both 10m and 15m dead. |
| SPRINT 2008 | Didn't spend any time working this contest. just gave points away to one station on 80m. |
| BFRA - Bulgarian Federation of Radio Amateurs | |

| DX RTTY 2005 | YB5BO - first Indonesia QSO: 20m FR1HZ - first Reunion Island QSO: entity, 20m, RTTY UN7PBY - first Kazakhstan QSO: 40m |
| VERY pleased to work Reunion for an all time new DXCC on any band/mode. Not a serious competition entry, more a case of the weather's bad outside so why not pass the time in the shack giving away a few points! Heavy rain caused S9+ QRN at times. Worked 32 stations. | |
| DX RTTY 2006 | VK4AN - first Australia QSO: entity, 20m, RTTY |
| VERY pleased to work Australia for an all time new DXCC on any band/mode. Worked 65 stations in marginal conditions. Most of the QSO's were on 20m, with some on 15m. | |
| DX RTTY 2007 | Lots of QRM from CIS contest stations calling CQ over the top of existing PSK stations already in QSO. Worked 20 stations, mainly on 40m, including 11 Russian/Ukrainian stations. Most exotic was KK5OQ on 40m. |
| CQ WW - CQ Magazine 'World Wide contest' | |
| CQ WPX CW 2008 | A big CW contest. Worked only S&P but picked up 180 contacts, including 11 new DXCC's on CW mode. Both 10m and 15m had activity. Even worked Europeans on 20m at midnight! |
| CQ WPX RTTY 2005 |
|
| The first time I have worked over 100 contacts [103] during an RTTY contest. Unable to work during the Saturday afternoon or the Sunday afternoon. Got the vertical to tune up on 80m for a change! Midday Sunday had a good 15m opening. Highlights included CN8KD and J43BSF [40m] and G6PZ [80m]. | |

| First time I have set a target in a contest. I wanted to beat last years QSO count, by aiming to work over 200 stations. Also a successful DXCC contest, with three new entities, three new band entities and two new mode entities. Worked entirely S&P mode. No specific 80m aerial. 10m dead throughout. This contest resulted in my most active month since being licensed; 411 QSO's. | |
| CQ WPX RTTY 2007 |
EA8AH first Canary Islands QSO: 80m UA9CLB first Asiatic Russia QSO: 80m |
| Very poor conditions on 15m/10m and 20m/40m suffering deliberate QRM, especially from CW stations. Worked two all time new DXCC on 80m using the 20m long inverted L. Very few W/VE's worked or heard. total was 133 stations. | |
| CQ WPX RTTY 2008 | No new DXCC worked. Didn't spend too much time in the RTTY contest, as playing CW on top band. Worked 124 stations, including a nice run on 40m on Saturday morning. Highlights included [40m] P49X and NP3U. Managed to work a few stations on 15m. |
| CQ WPX SSB 2004 |

mainly 20m. 15m opened but was fairly quiet. 10m was dead. Highlights

completely dead. 15m very quiet, but worked some surprising stations: PS2T
[Brazil] and
ZD8Z [Ascension Island]. These two stations were booming, and working runs
of Europeans,
but no Europeans were calling CQ....most strange. 40m was its usual bear
pit. Took advantage of
the extension up to 7.200MHz to work USA stations in between the broadcast
QRM. The target was
to beat the 2004 totals in numbers of QSO's and points. Achieved both!
40m gave J6DX for my 99th DXCC
country [St. Lucia], followed by my 100th DXCC country with
HI3CCP on 40m [Dominican Republic]., then just before I had to finish for
the weekend, ZD8Z

| CQ WPX SSB 2008 | Worked 108 stations mostly on 40m. Several UA9's worked on 15m. 10m completely dead except for a very weak and watery DL calling CQ. |
| CQ WW DX CW 2007 | Worked my first CW contest! 224 contacts, mainly on 40m and 20m. Worked some east coast W/VE, but no SA, Africa or Asia, other than a couple of UA9 stations. Gave Simon 2E0CVN a shock when I called him on three bands! Most exotic were P3F,4L0A and 4O3A on 40m. |

|
| The first time I have worked over 200 contacts during a contest [223]. 15m open midday on both days, with good conditions to east coast W's, and 20m stayed open until mid evening on the Sunday. Highlights included A61AJ, HC8N, ZL2AMI and TF3W [40m] and TF4M, TK/F5CWU and VP9/K9JY [20m]. | |

| Did not work as many stations as last year. 15m opened but did not work many stations through the wall of European stations calling 6W1, ZL, JA and W6. Had a productive morning session with some 26 QSO's on 40m and 20m. Worked Liechtenstein for my first ever RTTY QSO with that DXCC. | |
| CQ WW DX RTTY 2007 | T93M first Bosnia-Herzegovina QSO: 80M RTTY |

| The
biggest contest entry I have made to date. 404 contacts logged, including a
number on 80m, using
the newly made and installed 20m long inverted L antenna. Also made first
ever 160m QSO with M8C.
15m actually opened for a number of
hours, and proved very interesting. Some hissing heard on DX
signals, perhaps auroral? Worked M8C on all six bands. The
Liechtenstein/HB0 contacts were most
welcomed, as were all the G's and GM's on 40m and 80m. Heard a lot of exotic
callsigns but unable to
get through the enormous pileups. 3V6T in Tunisia was the most exotic worked. 160m 80m 40m 20m 15m 10m Total Valid QSO's: 1 56 88 130 102 27 404 Total Mults: 2 24 43 54 43 25 191 Total Points: 0 49 113 162 120 31 475 |

40m only for a few hours. The only exotic worked was US5D in zone 16.
Almost everyone else was in Europe zones 14/15. Most surprising QSO was

| International DX 2006 | Gave away a few points, mainly on 40m, to 11 stations, including 4L6AM and EN5D. |
| International DX 2007 | Filling in time between RTTY sessions in the VOLTA contest, gave away points to 12 stations. Furthest DX worked was UA9CLB. Worked GB4VLX on 20/40m, in memory of Deryck Buckley G3VLX, who I have known since my pre-license days, on 20/40m. |
| International DX 2008 | Worked 54 stations, mainly on 40/20m. Worked 2 stations on 15m. Worked several W's, as well as 4L8A for a new band/mode. |

| OK DX RTTY 2005 | GU0IDA - first Guernsey QSO: RTTY |
| With 10m completely dead, and 15m not far behind. This contest relied on 40m activity to make up the number of contest QSO's, which included DD4B, 7X0RY, GM3SEK and GU0IDA. Worked 58 stations. | |

first Bulgaria QSO: 80m SV3DCX - first Greece QSO: 80m YO9HP - first Romania QSO: 80m |
| With 10m completely dead, and 15m not far behind. This contest relied on 40m and 80m activity to make up the number of contest QSO's. With an A-index of over 80 at times, band conditions were very poor. Even regular RTTY contest stations on 20m/15m were way down on usual and difficult to copy. Beat last years QSO count by working 72 stations, due mainly to activity on 80m with the inverted L antenna. Used N1MM Logger V6.11.0 for the first time, via the MicroHam USB router, to the Icom IC-7400. Picked up three new band/DXCC entities for 80m. Zone 33 proved to be the most exotic, with EF8A, CN8KD and 7X0RY [40m], EF8A [15m] and CN8KD [20m]. The highlight was TF3HP in zone 40 on 20m. | |
| OK DX RTTY 2007 | Worked 70 stations while taking part in the Croatian CW contest. Best was 27 stations on 40m. Only 1 station worked on 15m. Used N1MM. No new DXCC worked. |

Decided that I would only S&P islands during the first part of the contest.
Out of the first 40 stations
worked, only 5 were non-islands. Reached 31.3 QSO's per hour at one time.
Outside of Europe, I managed to work several Canadian islands; VE3ZZ/VY2

| SARTG - Scandinavian Amateur Radio Teleprinter Group | |

40m, RTTY FM1HN - first Martinique QSO: 20m, RTTY |

| Winter 2006 | GU0SUP - first Guernsey QSO:
40m, RTTY G0HDV - first England QSO: 80m, RTTY |
| I
expected this to be a 'local' affair within Europe, but was surprised to
work nearly 100 stations, including several east coast W's. Finally worked Phil, GU0SUP, on RTTY! |

| Winter 2007 | Atrocious weather conditions. Winds speeds gusting over 60mph and heavy rain. Solar activity didn't help with QRN on 40m very bad at times. Worked only 10 stations. Started off using N1MM but couldn't get the name/HNY greetings in to the QSO boxes. Switched to WinWarbler but encountered the power output variation problem. Moved over to the TS-570 and PK-232 set up. Power output was constant but unable to work through the QRN. |

| SCC RTTY 2006 | 7X0RY - first Algeria QSO: 10M |
