Ariane L's Chili Con Carne http://forum.canadianparents.ca/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=81518&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=6&o=&fpart=1 1 lb ground beef ½ cup chopped onion 3/4 cup water ½ cup chopped green or red pepper 3 tablespoon chili powder ½ teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce - your favourite 2 garlic cloves, minced 3 cups or 28 on can tomatoes undrained, cut up 10 on can tomato soup 6 on can tomato paste 4 on can chopped green chiles, undrained - 2 or 3 fresh chiles (to taste) 15 on can kidney beans, undrained In medium skillet, brown ground beef with onion; drain. In large saucepan, combine ground beef mixture and remaining ingredients except kidney beans. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 1 ½ to 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Stir in kidney beans; simmer until thoroughly heated. Garnish with grated cheese and sour cream. Serve with buns, biscuits or nacho chips. For slow cooker, proceed as directed above and cook on low setting for 5 to 6 hours. Add kidney beans; heat thoroughly.
