Un-Chili Chili by Holly D. Monnich posted to alt.creative-cooking I cannot eat spicy foods of any kind myself. Years ago, at a gathering, a girlfriend of mine had made "chili" and I LOVED it. It's not at all spicy unless you want it to be and should meet all three of your criteria. Recipe follows: Ingredients: 1.5 lbs ground beef 2 T fat (i usually just use bacon fat) 1 cup chopped onions green pepper to taste 1 cup celery 2 cups canned stewed tomatoes 1 clove garlic 1.5 t salt 2 t sugar 1 t worcestshire sauce 2 cups beans Optional: 1 - 2 T chili powder blended with 2 T cold water In this recipe the chili powder is used strictly for flavoring and is almost unnoticable. Procedure: saute veggies, brown meat, place in crock pot, add powder mixture and tomatoes, add salt, sugar and worcestshire sauce. boil and simmer overnight on low heat in a crock pot, add beans, simmer for 30 minutes (long enough to heat the beans) and serve. It's incredibly easy to make and delicious. Of course, it's not the kind of chili you put on your hot dog but it's fantastic with cornbread! Enjoy, Holly
